From Simply Music:

"We are committed to revolutionizing our teacher’s success in having students acquire and retain music as a lifelong companion. In essence, the reasons behind the global success of the Simply Music Piano method are:

  • The quantity and quality of music that our piano students play

  • How quickly and easily our students learn to play piano"

Simply Music's has four primary goals for each teacher to be able to equip their students with. The four goals are to:

  • Experience music as a natural self-expression

  • Play a broad repertoire of great-sounding music

  • Have a highly positive, self-affirming experience

  • Develop the ability to self-generate and progress on their own

As such, a three way commitment is needed from Teacher, Parent and Student in order to retain music as a lifelong companion.

TEACHER (MUSIC COACH):

Your music coach is fully committed to your success as a student at Passion Studios. He or she will always:

  • Be prepared and punctual for class with appropriate material.

  • Be patient, enthusiastic and encouraging.

  • Maintain consistent, open communication and active relationships with parents and student body.

  • Instill discipline and accountability in each student.

  • Offer opportunities through events and volunteering for the student to share their musicality.

PARENTS (LIFE COACH):

We, as teachers, are only with the student for 30 minutes to an hour every WEEK. You are with them the other 23 hours and 6 days a week. Each student's success in any given week is entirely dependent on how committed you as a parent are to seeing them be successful through peaks, plateaus and valleys during practice time.
PLEASE NOTE: If the following feels like something you can’t commit to at this time, we completely understand!
We respectfully ask that you please wait to enroll when you are ready, willing and able to help your student at the beginning stages of music lessons.

  • We need a partner we can count on in you. Trust your music coach, even if you don't understand, don't agree, or if it’s inconvenient for you.

  • Attend and participate in Parent/Teacher Orientation Day, in weekly lessons, and ongoing discussions. If your student is under 18, you must attend class with them every week.

    • If you are unable to attend Parent/Teacher orientation day session prior to your start date, we will move your start date to our next enrollment period.

    • If bringing a sibling to class, ensure they are not a distraction to the rest of the group.

    • Cell phones must be on silent and put away.

  • At home, ensure that student is completing assignments and keeping the playlist alive through the MyMusicStaff web-based app. Our expectation is for you to be checking in with your child during practice periodically throughout the week.

    • Communicate with your music coach through our studio contact information. Keep open communication with your teacher and feel free to ask any questions during the week. Please do not ask for your music coach's personal contact information, or share yours with them.

    • Relay any absences through My Music Staff, or our studio contact information.

    • If you are absent, please help your student look through the app and connect with a classmate for missed material. Passion Studios does not offer make up lessons.

    • Shared supplemental sessions are held on Fridays and available to all students for missed work, extra tutoring or learning additional content. You are welcome to reserve a shared supplementary sessions with your teacher if you need some extra help! Your teacher may require one if they feel your student has fallen too far behind. (See scheduling below.)

  • Be Flexible.
In the event of a student progressing more quickly than the group or needing more review than the speed of the group or simply another group is developed, the teacher may evaluate the students needs and have the student switch groups as necessary, providing the best fit for everyone.

  • Please sign your student up for their preferred event when the schedule is released each calendar year and plan accordingly to attend. Your student’s instructor may require them to sign up for an event of their choice.

  • Adhere to Payment Policy listed below.

  • VIRTUAL LESSONS: Every class comes with an opportunity to utilize virtual lessons as the exception rather than the standard, i.e. sickness, out of town. We will help you learn how to use Zoom Meetings during your first few classes and give you a list of requirements for it to work successfully. Each student can join eight (8) virtual lessons per year. Please let your instructor know prior to 2pm of your lesson day if you plan on attending virtually or we can not guarantee our zoom room will be open.

  • ARTIST OF THE MONTH: Each month, we highlight a new artist in a different genre in the lobby and our studio newsletter. We also post it as an assignment for your student, to expose your student to new musical tastes. We will carefully hand select information and three to five songs for them to listen to that are family friendly, and child appropriate. Each artist may not be your favorite. It is up to you whether you decide to listen to more songs than we have prescreened. If you choose to do so, we recommend prescreening any additional songs from that artist as a parent and using discretion.

  • Read the monthly newsletter, “Off Key”, and keep up to date on studio communications. (Please be sure our email is coming into your primary inbox.) Utilize Passion Studios newsletter for any:

    • FAQ's

    • Upcoming Events

    • Teacher Absences

    • Announcements.

  • Inclement weather announcements.

    • In the event of bad weather, check your email and text messages for studio closing announcements. If the studio closes at that time, you will be issued a half credit for that lesson that will be applied to future payments. We do not issue refunds for studio closures.

    • If the studio remains open and you decide to not attend the lesson, no credits will be issued.

STUDENT

If you were to sign up for a sports league and you decided you didn't want to follow your coaches instructions, you would be put on the bench. Likewise, if our teachers missed lessons regularly and were half prepared each week, both the student and parent would be sorely frustrated.

Passion Studios is a requirement based studio. We are 100% committed to each student acquiring the skill set to enjoy and create music for a lifetime, as such we need 100% commitment from the student in these 5 areas at both class and home.

CLASS

  • TRUST YOUR MUSIC COACH, even if you don't understand, don't agree, or if it’s inconvenient for you.

  • Class will begin at scheduled time. Student and Parent MUST schedule accordingly to attend the first three lessons.

    • In case of absence, student must notify teacher at least two hours prior to scheduled lesson time. If you are absent, you and your life coach will need to look through the app and connect with a classmate for missed material. Passion Studios does not offer make up lessons.

    • Shared supplemental sessions are held on Fridays and available to all students for missed work, extra tutoring or learning additional content. You are welcome to reserve a shared supplemental session with your teacher if you need some extra help!

    • If student is under 18, a parent MUST be brought to class, no exceptions.

  • Do everything you are asked to do, and do not do anything you are not asked to do.

  • No gum, food or other distracting items in class besides water. Cell phones must be on SILENT and PUT AWAY.

  • Be ready to be involved in round robins, hand raising, and playing at any time.

  • All students are allotted eight (8) virtual Zoom attendance lessons per year.

HOME

  • Practice time is required and established during the 1st lesson and must be completed 5 days a week, 15-20 min a day, and 30-35 minutes after level 4. Please discuss any practice conflicts with a teacher before they come up.

    • Playlist (list of songs you have learned) must be played on a daily basis. If your internet connection isn't working, a substitute must be discussed with your teacher prior to defaulting on the app.

    • Complete all current assignments daily, having all assignments practiced five times by the next lesson, following your music coach’s specific directions. Your teacher can end the lesson early if you attend lessons without having worked on any current assignments.

    • Relay all communication for your music coach through our studio contact information. Keep open communication with your teacher and feel free to ask any questions during the week. You may not ask for your music coach's personal contact information, or share yours with them.
